Randy Lewis Memorial Compact Bonestock Derby Rules:

  1. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age.
  2. 16 and 17 year olds need to have a signed consent waiver by parents or guardian to participate.
  3. Driver must furnish his/her own car.
  4. All drivers and pit crew must sign a liability waiver and purchase a pit pass before entering the pit area or track.
  5. All drivers must attend the driver’s meeting prior to race time.
  6. Any driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to compete.
  7. No alcohol or drugs permitted in pits.
  8. Unsportsmanlike conduct could result in ban or suspension from infield.

All drivers must have a helmet, safety shield/safety glasses, and working seat belt in car!

For driver safety 2 bars or 1″ flat bar strapping must be mounted vertically from firewall to roof over the windshield area, must be bolted or welded to sheet metal, no rear window bars allowed.

COMPACT DERBY 4 & 6 CYLINDER

COMPACT DERBY

Consist of 4 and 6 cylinder cars as described below that must qualify during a heat in order to qualify for compact feature. Must use the same car in heat and feature. No fresh cars in feature.

4 CYLINDER CARS PERMITTED

Any factory equipped 4 cylinder, 2 or 4 door, sedan or station wagon. No light commercial vehicles, SUVs, trucks or vans. AWD cars must remove one drive shaft.

6 CYLINDER CARS PERMITTED

Any factory equipped 6 cylinder FWD, 2 or 4 door, sedan or station wagon. No light commercial vehicles, SUVs, trucks, or vans.

Drivers must hit a live vehicle every 60 seconds.

Drivers are required to wear a DOT approved helmet and safety glasses/goggles or face shield. Drivers must also wear full length pants and footwear that completely covers feet. Safety is our first priority while on the grounds. There will be no tolerance of any unsafe acts. Conduct of a driver or crew member can disqualify the driver and car from the event. /

All decisions of the judges are final. Please call Ryan Fisher 570-764-5440 from 10am-8pm for any rule clarifications and questions.

STRIPPING

ALL unnecessary glass, plastic, chrome moldings, carpet, mirrors, emblems, and flammable materials must be removed. No broken windows in doors.

The car must be clean and free of loose debris in the driver’s compartment and the trunk. All airbags must be completely removed. Drain air conditioners and associated rubber hoses must be cut or removed prior to arrival at the track. All trailer/towing hitches must be removed.

CAR APPEARANCE

Each car needs their own distinct number where it can easily be read in contrasting colors. Roof sign recommended, but numbers on doors must be visible!

CAGES AND DRIVER PROTECTION

Factory dash may be removed. You MUST have a 4 point cage minimum! Bars must be 5″ away from firewall and 5″ from rear speaker deck area and must be 5″ from floor. Cages are intentioned for safety and not to reinforce the car. Halos will be allowed given the vertical bars do not extend more than 4″ past horizontal roof bar. A center bar is allowed for mounting shifter and switches, etc. Both drivers have the option to shift the car. For driver safety, 2 bars or 1″ flat bar strapping must be mounted vertically from firewall to roof over the windshield area, must be bolted or welded to sheet metal, no rear window bars allowed. No outside door bars!

FUEL TANKS AND FUEL CELLS

ORIGINAL FUEL TANKS in stock location permitted BUT NOT PREFERRED. Tank must be secured in two places using up to 3/8” chain or wire. Gas tank shields permitted as long as it does not reinforce the car. Metal fuel cells or approved marine style metal tanks are required when mounted inside of car. No gas cans or plastic tanks. Maximum capacity of fuel tank permitted is 10 gallons. Gasoline only. Any fuel leaks will disqualify car from participating. Please use secure leak proof fittings and good hose clamps and make sure they are tight.

Tanks must be located behind the front seat and must be securely fastened with chains, bolts, or both. ZIP SCREWS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. If you choose to use a frame for the purpose of mounting your gas tank, it may either be mounted to the rear seat bar OR bolted to the floor sheet metal, no combinations.

All fuel tank frames/mounts may be no wider than 24″ and must start a minimum of 4″ away from vertical sheet metal on both used and fresh cars. All parts of a cage mounted fuel tank frame/mount must be at least 5″ above floor that is below said fuel tank frame/mount. Additionally, fuel tank mounts may not be used as a technical advantage on a vehicle.

All fuel tanks should be covered with a rubber mat, a metal cover, or both. You may run an electric fuel pump, but it must have a kill switch that is clearly marked.

Aftermarket pedals should be mounted on passenger’s floor board. Co drivers are to be in control of gas and brake while main driver steers car.

BATTERIES

Up to two batteries permitted, batteries may be moved inside to the REAR passenger side floorboard. Batteries must be in a secure box and be covered (No metal covers). We recommend metal battery box be bolted to floor with no smaller then a 3/8″ bolt.

BRAKES AND STEERING

A working hydraulic brake system is required. You must exhibit the ability to stop. Anyone losing their brakes during an event will be disqualified.

Steering may be modified from steering rack to steering wheel. Do not reinforce the steering rack. Tie rods may be welded or reinforced.

TIRES AND RIMS

Air only. No liquid or concrete filled tires. No studded tires. Any ply rating, doubled, etc. will be allowed. All wheel weights must be removed, including on the inside of the wheels. Variable lug centers permitted. Valve stem protectors are ok, no bead locks. ONLY REAR TIRES ON FWD CARS MAY BE SOLID!

BODY AND FRAME

Stock body mount/subframe mounts may be replaced with a hockey puck and 3/4″ bolt or threaded rod maxi. No frame modifications! No stuffed frames of any kind. Front 2 body mounts may have 3/4″ all threaded rod through core support and hood, and be used as a hood hold down.

You may crease body lines. Fender well sheet metal may be cut or rolled for clearance purposes and bolted back together with no more than 6 bolts per wheel well.

Sunroof hole MUST be covered and secured with same thickness metal as the roof.

Front Frame may ONLY be seam welded first 12 inches of frame and you may use two (4″x 12″ x 1/4″ thick max) plates per frame rail to reinforce front frame (4 plates total on front, 2 per side).

Any frame/unibody/rocker panel/body panel/bumper/etc. may be drilled to scope inside if deemed necessary for inspection. Patching and rust repair to body and/or frame will be allowed only if cleared in advance by Ryan Fisher 570-764-5440; may require pictures before and after any repairs.

HOODS, TRUNKS AND DOORS

Hood must have at least an 8″ x 8″ hole near the center for fire personnel access. Hood may be secured in a total of 6 places of your choice by chain (3/8″ max.), #9 wire or bolted in 3 spots per side of hood with angle iron. Hood must be able to be opened for inspection! Factory hood latch must be removed and factory hood hinges must be in place!

Doors and trunks may have a total of 10 places (combination of choice) of your choice on each panel by welding metal plates (3″x3″x 3/16″ max.), chain (3/8″ max.), #9 wire (3 strand max), OR banding (3″ max). ONLY THE DRIVER’S DOOR/DOORS MAY BE FULLY SEAM WELDED (inner/outer) for safety purposes (2″x 1/4″ straps max.). No other inside body seams may be welded. Trunks may be tucked. NO wedging! Keep quarter panels vertical! NO welding on inside of trunk seams. Trunks can be welded to floor in 3 spots MAX!

BUMPERS

Any OEM CAR bumper permitted. Bumper corners may be cut and bent to fit width of the car. Seam welding is permitted on bumpers. NO sharp edges or corners. Bumpers ay be welded directly to frame or any OEM stock shock may be used in a stock manor. Shocks may be compressed and welded. Shock plate may be welded to frame/sub frame. Frame may be shortened to mount bumper but core support and mounts may not be modified. Bumper corners cannot stick out past body of car more than 3″ approximately. NO homemade bumpers, Smith metal works, dec. bumpers, etc. Must be OEM CAR bumper.

ENGINES, TRANSMISSIONS AND DRIVE SHAFTS

Engine & transmission may be swapped, lower cradles OK for engine swapping purposes only. Engine may be secured by solid mounts and or chain, must not strengthen the car or any other components. Efi to Carb swaps allowed.

No sliders shafts in RWD 4 cylinder cars allowed. Electronics may be relocated.

Stacks will be permitted and are preferred. Exhaust underneath car will be permitted.

Water only in cooling system. Please drain antifreeze prior to arrival at the track. Electric fans only. (NO NO NO engine mounted fans permitted!!) All engine electric cooling fans must be under hood. No external radiator guards/protectors. Trans coolers may be relocated under hood or in back seat area and may only be bolted to sheet metal.

Some type of air cleaner must be used. Suspension & Rears must remain STOCK. But you may stiffen with 1″ rod or pipe in swing area, but do not alter strut or any of the mounting locational, you may reinforce trailing arms and lower arms. Material maybe no more than 1/4″ thick.

Strut bars may be used from strut tower to strut tower, 1 bar only, no bigger than 2″x2″ box tube. Differentials may be welded.

All pre ran cars in all classes are allowed 8 fix it plates max!!! (4 up front and 4 in the rear!!) Plate size is to be 6″x 6″, 1/4″ thick max!! Must be approved!

NO EXTRA ANYTHING ALLOWED!
Just because it isn’t in the rules doesn’t make it legal.

Winning Cars will be inspected after feature event.
If something is found illegal after you run, all winnings and placing will be forfeited.
